New Bridget Jones Book coming out.
The year 2013 apparently holds a number of surprises one of which includes the new Bridget Jones book, movie and possibly musical.
Author Helen Fielding prepares herself for the release of a new Bridget Jones book making her fictional character deal with the anxiety and obsession of having social media followers and fans on Twitter and Facebook and most importantly in internet dating.
Bridget brings herself up to date with the newest technologies in order to find more ways to embarrass herself and more reasons to feel depressed, unpopular and neglected.
Based on Ms Fielding’s column about a young, professional woman, Bridget Jones has sold 15 million copies worldwide. Everybody’s eager for the third one to come out but will it be a rerun of the first two? That’s the question on everybody’s mind.
While the book focuses on the character keeping up with the newest internet services, the movie revolves on another aspect of Bridget’s life while still taking excerpts of Fielding’s columns.
When it comes to the movie, Zellweger is slated to return along with her costars from the first two, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth. Given that Grant and Firth have played competing love interests in both the existing Bridget movies, we can assume that both will still be in the picture vying for her attention.
It appears that she may be adding a family member to the mix in the movie. In Fielding’s newspaper columns, Bridget found herself pregnant not by Mark Darcy, her steadfast but inscrutable hero, but by the unreliable cad Daniel Cleaver.
Along with the new book and movie, Helen Fielding is helping create a new Bridget Jones musical. That project, which has been in development since 2009, is still a long way from hitting the stage.
What do you think? Will the third Bridget Jones (whether book or movie) be a rerun of the first two?
